My vision, when I assembled my team, was to provide cost savings while utilizing lower labor costs to focus on quality,” says Bill Pike, founder and CEO of Sunbird. “We’ll save you money, improve your quality, and eliminate all the hassles normally associated with teaming with China. That's not just a goal--that's been the reality since 1997.”
Bill is quick to offer kudos to his production and QC team. “The Sunbird Engineering team, in our offices throughout the globe, consists of people who genuinely care.” Bill says. “Nothing makes me more proud than to see quality product go out the door. I get the ultimate satisfaction producing a superior quality product while saving our customers money.”
Bill entered the Chinese manufacturing field over 11 years ago after receiving his International MBA in Japanese Business Studies from the University of South Carolina in 1993. He started his own business in Hong Kong in 1995 and eventually founded Sunbird Engineering Ltd. in 2009.
Bill speaks 5 languages--English, Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese-- and lives in Hong Kong with his wife and three kids.

Chris Machado

Chris explains why he loves coming to work: “New challenges and opportunities present themselves every day--usually several times a day! Plus, our location allows me the unique opportunity to improve my language skills while experiencing true cultural diversity in a team environment.”

“I supervise all operations in the Southern China factory, focusing on administration, accounting, engineering, quality, and production. My second focus is research and general operations Development,” says Chris.
Chris joined Sunbird in 2002. He holds a BS in Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering from Oregon State University. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and, when able, camping, snowboarding, and other outdoor sports.

Helen Tong

“My goal is to create perfect product, in house, on time, every time. You don’t even have to worry about shipping, “says Sales Manager Helen Tong. “I’ll manage your project from the starting point until it arrives in your hands--perfectly.”
Hel says. “I oversee design and tool making, and confirm production, samples, and confirm that the finished product has shipped to the customer. I also solve problems during the process, before they affect the finished product.”
Hel admits that “perfection” can be a daunting goal. “You’re going to have a little panic along the way. But Sunbird has a warm, fun working environment, which is why I love what I do.”
Hel joined Sunbird in 2004 as an Administrative Clerk, and quickly rose up the ranks into sales support. She loves the international connections in her job. “It’s a central hub between China and the West, with an international range of customers and suppliers. I’ve learned a lot here at Sunbird.”
